I agree with you, new technologies helps to work in a more distributed way and also how people thoughts about that are also changing, however Alistair Cockburn at Crystal Clear (another Agile framework that IMHO worth to bear in mind) talk about that topic:

Crystal Clear is an optimization of Crystal that can be applied when the team consists of two to eight people sitting in the same room or adjacent offices. In addition, I also think that Tobias Mayer talk about co-location at «The People’s SCRUM» saying that proper SCRUM must involve co-location…
